A case for Formidable Leadership:
- Formidable leaders take extreme ownership and extreme responsibility over their domain. Their focus is on what they can control rather on what they can’t. We respect and are inspired by people that can define a goal and are able to meet it no matter what. That’s a formidable leader, someone who can make their responsibility shake in fear with how impressively first-class, intense, and excellent the person is to take on that responsibility. I love the thesaurus suggestions for “formidable”: Herculean, monumental, vigorous, colossal, and inspiring fear or respect through being impressively capable. The people who I love working with are the people who point, want, and get what they want out of life. Those who are like this are most successful in our ecosystem. They have a system that works for them to identify what they’ll do and then they do it. No excuses. If stuck, then unstuck. That’s our culture. I work on my judgment and discernment for what will be my responsibility and if something is on my plate, you have my commitment that I’ll go nuclear on it. You can expect the same from Eva. We expect the same from our team and filter out people who are not stubborn for their missions— either don’t take something on or do take it on and get it done all the way; the alternative to take it on and do a bad job or get stuck or give up with every problem is a super common human characteristic and one we politely reject from our culture. We will only become a formidable team by surrounding ourselves with formidable leaders who are in control over their domain.
We’ve only ever added values once in the past, so it’s a big deal that we’re committing to two more. They’ll help us recruit, retain, and thrive as a team.
Call to Action:
If you notice yourself or others falling short of our shared values, please kindly and politely but directly help us get back on track. The road ahead is challenging, but we’re prepared through a common set of values. They light the road ahead.
You’re awesome.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
Hope you’re having an excellent week so far.
To your growth!
